In the year of 1982, the Lord spoke to Bishop William L. Harris Sr. to go out and began a work for the Lord in the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. After hearing the call of God, he began to teach bible classes in the apartment of Sister Stacy Hall and the late Brother Robert Hall. About nine adults and a few children attended his first bible class

The bible class began to grow to about twenty three adults and children. The Hall's apartment was not about to hold any more people. Bishop Harris and his wife, Sister Linda Harris began to pray for direction from God. It was at this time that God gave Bishop Harris the name for his church which is Victory Tabernacle of the Apostolic Faith.

The lord directed Bishop Harris to a storefront at 16th and Alabama, next to a bar. There was great joy among the Saints. God began to add to the church every service. It was evident that the Lord was on our side. A prophecy went forth in one of our services saying that the Lord was going to fill this building up.

The lord was blessing as and the devil was messing with us. People began to laugh because we were located in a storefront next to a bar. But God was on our side. The scripture comes to mind in Romans 8:31, ...if God be for us, who can be against us.

Through many tests, trials and sacrifices, the Lord saw fit to bestow blessings and miracles upon the saints of God. The power of God was so great in that little storefront the Holy Ghost would fall on people in their seats. By 1986 the building on 16th and Alabama was filled to capacity. The Saints began to pray and God answered our prayer.

It was during this time that Bishop and Sister Harris began to look for another location. Bishop Harris was sitting the barber chair when a Baptist preacher told him about a building at 2056 E. 32nd Street. Bishop Harris, Sister Harris and Elder Olgen Williams went to look at the building. The building needed a lot of repair.

We prayed about it and God lead us to purchase the building. The reason we knew that God was in the plan, He began to send workers to help repair the building; such as a contractor, a drywall finisher, and a roofer to come and say that the Lord sent them to help us. Is there any problem too great for our God to overcome? No!

This building seated 165 but God began to do the same thing He did on 16th and Alabama, and that is fill sounds with the Holy Ghost. To God be the Glory! God Began to bless the church in many ways, spiritually and financially. In the fall of 1996, we felt the need to move to another location because this one had become too small (Praise the Lord).

Bishop Harris was sitting in the same barber shop that he had sat in ten years before when a trustee from Friendship Baptist Church told him that their church was for sell, but was not on the market yet. By faith, Bishop Harris and the officials of Victory Tabernacle had a meeting with the officials of Friendship about purchasing their church.

We had very little in our bank account, but when God is in the plan. He will lead and guide you. Bishop Harris had a meeting with the Saints and told them that by faith, we are going to purchase Friendship Baptist Church and that we needed a large amount of money in the bank in one year's time

At Victory Tabernacle we believe in miracles. All Praise and all glory is due the Almighty Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! In one year's time we had over $100,000 in the bank.

In December of 1996, the Lord blessed Victory Tabernacle to sell the church at 2056 E. 32nd Street, but the church we were purchasing was still occupied by its owners. But God had a ram in the bush for us, Philippians 4:19 says, God will supply all your needs. We then moved to the Christamore House Community Center at 502 N. Tremont for eleven months.

In November of 1997, we purchased Friendship Baptist Church Today we have progressed and our membership is still growing. We realize without God, these blessings could not have been

Continue to pray for us here at Victory Tabernacle as we strive to continue to do the will of God and be found pleasing in His sight

Having therefore obtained help of God, we continue unto this day. Acts 26:22.
